Our trip to Egypt was memorable and inspiring in many ways. Spending time with my colleagues, suppliers and ground agents was precious.
Our visit to Cairo has left me feeling proud as I was there to witness a piece of history in the making. We arrived on the day the elections were held and I could not believe how peaceful this town was. When we passed Tahir Squarewe saw a crowd of protestors, flags, and a few posters but no violence.
An important part of our trip was to visit our clients, acquire their thoughts on current situations and obtain feedback on their whole experience. It was inspiring to observe how relaxed and safe they felt and how excited they were about their adventure. Egypt is a fascinating and mysterious destination that has been attracting visitors for centuries and the moment you step on Egyptian soil you are drawn to its history. The country offers some of the most spectacular sightseeing in the world, where both the ancient and modern worlds exist side by side. I have visited Egypt three times but I have to shout that right now is the best time to travel as there are not many tourists around and queues are non-existent. We were able to stay as close to the sights as possible and as long as we liked – 3000 photos taken illustrates how much time at each sight we were given.
One of the highlights of the visit was seeing the legendary Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan. This Hotel is situated in an incredible location overlooking The River Nile and Elphantine Island. The History of the Palace is fascinating as we learned for many years The Old Cataract has been attracted and visited by royalties, presidencies, famous archaeologists and writers. Originally built in 1899 as a Royal palace, The Old Cataract Hotel is decorated with an oriental essence, full of history and elegance. Recent renovation has proven to be a success with extra open spaces and state of the art amenities added to each room. Staff at the Old Cataract are very attentive and the moment we arrived we were greeted with hearth warming smiles, hibiscus and cool towels. The suites are remarkable, the lounge area has an elegant feel with an up to date plasma television, DVD player, iPod dock and Bose surround system. The separate coffee making area consists of a fridge, mini bar, latest espresso machine and every type of tea that you could think of. Attention to detail can be seen in every corner and every space. There is a separate dressing room in the bedroom, bathrooms are marbled and luxurious with walk in shower and very large old fashioned separate bath, his and hers sink with complimentary Eau D`orange Verte Hermes toiletries. Part of me was amazed at how perfect this place was. I was eager to find some criticism but I have struggled and simply could not think of any. The 1902 King Farouk restaurant had a great look and appetising menu, reasonable prised. So Spa is inviting and the full of ZEN and the hotel grounds are breathtaking.
The whole place is truly magical and we could not stop ourselves from taking photos. I left the place in dreamy state thinking staying at the Old Cataract at the end of the Nile Cruise would make a grand finale to a perfect holiday. The Old Cataract Hotel must be one of the most amazing hotels in the World. Maybe one day I will be back there.
