Winter Chill

Well the snow has really hit in the South East. It has been said that this part of the world are never prepared for this kind of thing – lots of critical judgement on our public services. Hearing the news all the main roads have been gritted, bus services in London are not operating, a high percentage of tubes and trains have been cancelled and many flights have been cancelled. We listen to the news and it says not to travel unless essential – makes me wonder what ‘essential’ means – does it mean a matter of life or death, does it mean that you have a very important work commitment that is deemed essential? I do think that the media (sorry to the journalists and media world) can hype everything up. As I listened to the news I wondered how the presenters and technicians had got to work, how other people manage? I was not going to be beaten – I was going to drive through 10 inches of snow. After 40 minutes and a car stuck in the middle of the road (and only just outside our house I hasten to add) I admitted defeat!!! Ah, the beauties of technology – a high percentage of Bales staff are working from home – so we are not debilitated form working. Also really a blessing of having staff working and living locally as we do have staff in the office to ensure we are able to respond to all the incoming calls – as one thing I hope this does (being optimistic by nature) is for more people to be determined to book a holiday, especially those that want to look forward to gong to a warmer climate. Time will tell – but just wanted to assure you that Bales are as usual open for business and will welcome your call and enquiry.
