It is beyond belief that last week with the build up to the US election the UK Stage had been taken up with excessive media coverage about Russell Brand and Jonathon Ross – it is said that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Well it that is the case the column inches and air time that has been given to this may mean even greater success to the duo in the long run. Taking stock of what is important it was good for the media to get back to the main focus being on the American election on the US election. . As I write this Barack Obama has just been voted in as President. What a remarkable victory and a man who appears to be very earnest and has huge charisma.
We have interesting debates at home with two of our sons studying politics and have very strong views. Whether we like it or not politics affect all our lives both with our lives in the UK and with our choices of where we go overseas. Some would not choose to go to a country where there is dictatorship regime, sometimes the politics affect the status quo or the stability of a country and we choose not to go there. It is all about personal views and choice about where we go to and most of us that enjoy travelling have a good idea of where we most want to go on our travels.
What is so interesting to me is that we are still seeing a high percentage of clients that are keen to go away before the end of the year. Contrary to some popular myths some countries are doing very well and the hoteliers are reporting high occupancy – but of course each country is attracting travellers from all over the world , so naturally no-one is reliant on support just from one country. Please don’t let the talk of high occupancy put you off trying – we will unravel every angle to try and secure the holiday you want when you want it and I am delighted that we have been able to fulfil so many clients’ desires to travel over Christmas.
I have always believed a good sense of humour and the ability to laugh contributes to a better quality of life. In my case it is a good job and certainly having the ability to laugh at myself. I also genuinely believe that most of us need things to look forward to in our calendar and the anticipation is often as exciting as the actual event or occasion. I do think this is true about holidays – some will book a long way out because they can plan and prepare and perhaps read up about the areas of the world they are going to.
Talking about laughing and trivia, a friend and I decided to venture into an exercise class called Body Combat. Well we thought it would be fun… we were at least 20 if not 30 years older than everyone else and the only first timers to the class – my goodness Body Combat – nearly killed me!!!!! We weren’t prepared to be beaten and what have we done – only booked on another class, we like to give the others something to be amused by!! Next day after having not been on a bicycle for several months I ventured out with another super fit friend to do a 3 hour cycle ride and am I looking good for it, no I look like a wreck. Morale of the story – keep up the fitness or give it up!
So back to finding something to look forward to, if you haven’t had a good search around our website I would recommend it!! I cannot believe you won’t find something to tempt you to want to travel with us.
